3 Limericks to preview Jim Comey's testimony before Senate Committee

June 08, 2017 by Bryan Denson

Former FBI Director James Comey, recently fired by President Trump, will appear before the U.S. Senate Select Committee on Intelligence today.

For his part, Comey released his opening remarks to the committee a day in advance. You can read those comments here.

In honor of what promises to be bipartisan grilling on strictly partisan lines, here are three limericks based on Comey's version of his uncomfortable chats with President Trump:

A Presidential Plea for Loyalty

There once was an FBI chief named Comey

Who refused to be Donald Trump’s homey

“Just play ball,” POTUS said,

As Comey stood and fled

What if he’d  just turned and said, “Blow me”?

Valentine's Day in the Oval Office

Trump just had to bring up Nat-Sec chief Flynn

Whose prevarications were a fireable sin

“Don’t you think he’s a great guy,

‘though he told a few white lies?”

Said Comey, “Isn’t this where I came in?”

Hart Senate Office Building, Room 216

Now the Senate wants to grill Mr. Comey

And parse today’s sworn testimony

About Russian intrusion

And White House collusion

To find out who’s full of baloney.
